Raffia Palm from Madagascar

One might assume that all raffia is purely plant-based and comes from palms growing in Madagascar. Unfortunately, we discovered that much of the raffia available on the market is often a blend of plastic, cotton, and viscose fibers, and therefore not fully natural. At Peniche, we use only genuine, natural raffia from Madagascar, sourced from sustainable cultivation. Each fiber is hand-harvested and sun-dried, then carefully woven to create products that are durable, distinctive, and full of character. It is a material that demands time and craftsmanship - and that is what truly reflects its value.

Toquilla Straw from Ecuador

Toquilla grass from Ecuador is a natural fiber derived from the leaves of a palm long renowned for producing the finest hats and woven goods. Lightweight, flexible, and exceptionally durable, it is ideal for creating woven accessories that retain their shape for years. The leaves are hand-harvested and naturally dried, then carefully sorted and prepared for weaving, preserving their natural color, texture, and subtle sheen. Thanks to these qualities, toquilla grass combines aesthetics, functionality, and durability - making it a timeless and fully natural material.
