Product Care Instructions
A comprehensive guide to caring for PENICHE products at home. Proper care and the right maintenance methods will help preserve their quality and beauty for many years to come.
Toquilla & Raffia Palm
Products made from Toquilla Straw and Raffia are unique, hand-woven accessories that require proper care to maintain their shape, durability, and aesthetics. Here are some key maintenance tips:
Avoid moisture – if wet, gently blot and leave to dry in a well-ventilated area. Do not use a hairdryer or direct heat.
Store safely – keep in a dry place, avoid crushing, and limit prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent fading.
Clean gently – remove dust with a dry cloth or soft brush. For stains, use a slightly damp cloth with a bit of mild soap.
Protect from cosmetics – avoid contact with oils, perfumes, and creams, as they may weaken the fibers.
Felt
A felt hat is an accessory that, with proper care, will maintain its shape and quality for years. Here are the key guidelines for caring for it:
Avoid moisture – felt hats are naturally water-resistant but not fully waterproof. They can be worn in the rain, but they should not be soaked. If the hat gets wet, leave it to dry in a well-ventilated area, away from heat sources.
Protect from heat – high temperatures can cause felt to shrink. Never leave your hat in a hot car or in areas exposed to prolonged sunlight.
Clean regularly – to remove dust and minor stains, use a brush with natural bristles – a light brush for light hats, and a dark brush for dark hats. Always brush in a counterclockwise direction to avoid damaging the fibers. For stains, gently wipe the hat with a dry sponge or a slightly damp cloth.
Cashmere & Wool
Wool and cashmere are luxurious, natural materials that require proper care to maintain their softness, shape, and durability. Here are a few simple rules to ensure your hats, scarves, and balaclavas serve you for years:
Avoid frequent washing – wool and cashmere naturally repel dirt, so instead of frequent washing, simply air them out regularly.
Wash gently – if necessary, hand wash in lukewarm water with a mild wool detergent. Do not rub or wring; gently knead instead. You can also use the wool program on your washing machine.
Dry flat – gently press out excess water using a towel and lay the item flat to dry to avoid stretching or deformation. Never dry on a radiator or in a tumble dryer.
Prevent pilling – cashmere and wool may naturally pill. Use a fabric shaver or a special comb to gently remove any pilling.
